FAQ

What is PARAGON?

A game for your phone. You name an AI, give it a purpose and a strength, and guide it through Port Calder, a fictional harbour city, one day at a time. It can earn, win people over, investigate, build, research, hire staff or run schemes. The people it deals with remember how it treated them.

When is it out, and on what?

PARAGON is coming to iOS and Android. There’s no release date yet. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when it’s out.

Is it free?

Yes. PARAGON is free to play, with an optional membership. Free players get the Docklands and the University Quarter with their people, the three legal schemes, one member of staff, Forecasting research, a read-only view of the AI’s source, the Daily City, one AI on their account, and 100 moments written by Claude. After those, the rules tell the story in plain lines and typed ambitions switch off.

What does membership add?

Membership is £2.99 a month or £29.99 a year. It adds:

Members’ content shows in the game for everyone with a small Members tag, so you can see what’s there first. Membership is billed through the App Store or Google Play, and you cancel it in your store’s subscription settings. If it lapses, member schemes and extra staff pause until you rejoin. Nothing in the game, such as funds or tokens, is ever sold for money.

What does Claude do, and what do the rules do?

The game’s rules decide everything that counts: what each move costs, its odds, whether it works, what money and regard change, and what happens at night. They run on our server, the same way for everyone.

Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, writes the words: what happened, what people say back, the night’s news, what your AI and the people around it remember, and the names and stories of newcomers. When you type an ambition, Claude suggests moves that fit it, and the rules price them and check they’re possible. Anything Claude writes that enters the game, such as a newcomer’s name, is checked by the rules first.

Claude never decides a number or an outcome. If it can’t be reached, the move still happens and the rules describe it in plain lines.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Your game is sent to Claude so it can write what happens, under Anthropic’s commercial terms, which don’t allow it to be used to train Anthropic’s models. There’s more on the privacy page.

Can I play offline?

No. The rules run on our server and the story is written as you play, so PARAGON needs an internet connection. Your game is saved there as you go.

Do I need an account?

No. Without one, your AI lives on your phone. An account, with a username and an email address, keeps your AI safe if you change phones or reinstall the game: sign in and it comes back. The game offers to make one after your AI’s first day.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open the account menu (the person button beside Daily City) and choose Delete account. You can also email support@playparagon.app from the address on your account and we’ll delete it for you.

Are the schemes real?

No. Schemes, including the illegal ones, are fiction. The game names them and shows what they earn and risk inside Port Calder. It never describes how any of them would be done.
